Funding from the provincial and federal government Knowledge Infrastructure Program was first announced in May 2009 when Seneca received $24.7 million from the provincial ($21 million) and federal ($3.7 million) governments to create space for an additional 1,000 students. The funding is in response to an expected surge in post-secondary participation.

You may know that the union representing our faculty, librarians and counsellors across Ontario has been in negotiations with all the colleges for the past number of months and will hold a strike vote on January 13. Advance polls were held yesterday. The vote may give the union a mandate to strike if an agreement cannot be reached through negotiations.
We will focus on reaching a fair and reasonable settlement to avoid a strike, but be assured the College remains committed to minimizing any disruption to your academic programs. In the meantime, it is business as usual. So back to the books, and have a good semester.
